WA Government Backs Modular Housing to Tackle Regional Housing Crisis

JUNE NEWS BANNER WA Government Backs Modular Housing to Tackle Regional Housing Crisis 1

Premier Roger Cook, Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti, and Housing Minister John Carey visit Modular WA’s manufacturing facilities to announce major housing initiatives.

On June 16th 2025, Modular WA was proud to host WA Premier Roger Cook, Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti, and Minister for Housing John Carey at our manufacturing facility in Wangara. Their visit marked a significant milestone for the modular construction industry, with the announcement of bold new measures designed to make homeownership more accessible—especially for families in regional Western Australia.

Modular WA has long championed the role of off-site construction in solving the regional housing crisis. Our modular homes are designed and built locally, then delivered efficiently to regional towns across the state. In fact, Modular WA has already been working with the WA Government as part of the Modular Supply Panel, providing essential GROH, Aged, and Social Housing, across regional centres such as Albany, Geraldton, Katanning, and beyond. By bypassing the traditional bottlenecks of on-site labour shortages and delays, modular housing offers a faster, more affordable pathway to homeownership for those in the regions.

Premier Roger Cook unveiled a new low-deposit Keystart Modular Loan, aimed at helping more West Aussies into their first home, sooner.

“Modular homes are quicker and cheaper to build, so this is a real game-changer—especially for those wanting to build in regional WA,” Premier Cook said.
“No matter where you live in our State, you can get into housing at an affordable price.”

Deputy Premier Saffioti echoed the government’s commitment to making housing more affordable:

“We’re making housing more affordable for thousands of Western Australians.
The new low deposit modular loan product is available from today, helping more people, particularly in regional WA, to purchase a modular home.”

Housing Minister John Carey gave his support for modular housing and highlighted the importance of industry collaboration in driving these reforms:

“Great to be at Modular WA today to announce a suite of measures to help more West Australians purchase their first homes.
These products deliver on our election promises and are supported by industry to address housing affordability and boost supply.”

Daniel Pastorelli, local member for Landsdale, noted how the Cook Labour Government is helping more Western Australians purchase their first homes:

“Boosting housing supply is our government’s priority and we’re doing it right here in the heart of Landsdale.”

We’re honoured to play a key role in delivering solutions that are Made in WA, and to be recognised by the State Government as a vital part of Western Australia’s housing future.
